The UK Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is a strange body on the one hand it says Sellafield meets high standards on safety but then issues a safety improvement notice:
“While we are satisfied that Sellafield Ltd is currently meeting the high standards expected with regards to nuclear safety, as a regulator we require sustained improvements in the area of electrical safety.”

Of course effective electrical systems are vital to all power plants, not least for safety purposes. In the circumstances it seems strange ONR have given Sellafield’s operators a year (until 15th January 2022) to get things up to scratch.
