NORTH WALES: S4C FUNDING PROTESTS CONTINUE
UK government plans to fund Welsh channel S4C from the BBC licence fee are continuing to cause concern.
Welsh language supporters believe that the plans will compromise the independence of S4C and in effect the channel will “risk being gobbled up by the BBC”.
The BBC has attempted to offer assurances about the channels continuing independence but campaigners are not persuaded.
The Celtic League added its voice to concerns by writing to the DCMS Minister, Jeremy Hunt, last year (see link):
